1 About CrisisMatrix
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CrisisMatrix mobile application ("App"), website at crisismatrix.com, and related services (collectively, "Services") operated by Dezign IQ Technologies FZ-LLC, a Free Zone Limited Liability Company registered in Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), Ras Al Khaimah, UAE ("we", "our", "us").
By downloading, installing, or using CrisisMatrix you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Age requirement: You must be at least 17 years old to use CrisisMatrix.
CrisisMatrix provides the following features:
- ARIA AI Assistant — AI-powered emergency guidance using Anthropic's Claude API (online) and offline RAG fallback
- Disaster & Medical Guides — offline reference guides covering nuclear, flood, CPR, AED, recovery position, and more
- Medical ID — personal emergency health information stored on-device only
- 72-Hour Kit Builder — preparedness checklist
- SOS Broadcast — transmits your GPS to designated contacts (does NOT call emergency services)
- Emergency Number Display — shows local emergency numbers based on your detected country
- Family Safety Network — voluntary group status sharing (Phase 2)
2 Acceptance of Terms
These Terms constitute a binding legal agreement between you and CrisisMatrix. Your continued use of the Services following any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be notified to you in-app at least 14 days before they take effect.
If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of an organisation, you warrant that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
3 Emergency Features & Limitations
3.1 — SOS Broadcast Feature
The SOS feature transmits your GPS coordinates to your designated emergency contacts when you hold the SOS button and confirm activation. It does NOT:
- Contact police, ambulance, fire, or any emergency services
- Automatically dial any telephone number
- Guarantee delivery of location to contacts (internet connectivity required)
- Function as a substitute for calling your local emergency services directly
3.2 — Emergency Number Display
CrisisMatrix detects your approximate country using GPS to display the relevant local emergency telephone numbers. By using this feature you acknowledge:
- Emergency numbers displayed are sourced from publicly available databases and may not be current or accurate
- Emergency numbers can change — always verify through official government sources
- CrisisMatrix makes no guarantee as to the accuracy, currency, or completeness of emergency number information
- Country detection relies on GPS and may be inaccurate — you may manually override your detected country in the Profile screen
3.3 — Emergency Call Button
CrisisMatrix accepts no liability for:
- Inaccurate emergency numbers displayed in the app
- Calls made as a result of using the emergency call button
- Failure to connect to emergency services using any displayed number
- Any delay, error, or failure in displaying local emergency numbers
4 Liability & Disclaimers

CrisisMatrix shall not be liable for service unavailability caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, network outages, or government action — noting the irony that these are precisely the situations in which the App is most needed. Offline functionality is provided specifically to address this limitation.
5 Medical Content Disclaimer
5.1 — General Medical Disclaimer
All medical, first aid, and emergency guidance content in CrisisMatrix ("Guide Content") is based on publicly available guidelines from WHO, Red Cross, Resuscitation Council, FEMA, and equivalent bodies. Guide Content is provided for informational and reference purposes only.
Guide Content is NOT:
- A substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
- A substitute for certified first aid or emergency response training
- Reviewed by a licensed medical professional before delivery to you
- Guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or current at the time of reading
5.2 — CPR, AED & Life-Support Guide Specific Disclaimer
By using the CPR, AED, and Recovery Position guides, you explicitly acknowledge and agree that:
- These guides do not qualify you to perform CPR, operate an AED, or provide first aid
- You MUST complete a certified first aid and CPR course from an accredited provider (such as the Red Cross, St John Ambulance, British Heart Foundation, or equivalent in your country) before attempting these procedures
- CrisisMatrix is not liable for any injury, death, or harm resulting from following guide content, whether or not you followed the guide correctly
- In all cardiac arrest and medical emergency situations, you must call emergency services immediately and prioritise getting trained professionals to the scene
We strongly recommend that all CrisisMatrix users complete a certified first aid and CPR course. A reference guide app is not a substitute for hands-on training with qualified instructors.
6 ARIA AI Assistant
6.1 — What ARIA Is
ARIA (AI Response Intelligence Assistant) is an AI-powered assistant powered by Anthropic's Claude large language model API. ARIA is subject to the transparency requirements of EU AI Act Article 50 (effective 2 August 2026).
6.2 — Limitations You Accept
By using ARIA, you explicitly acknowledge:
- ARIA may produce hallucinations — factually incorrect responses presented with apparent confidence
- ARIA responses are not reviewed by licensed medical or emergency professionals before delivery
- ARIA is not a licensed medical professional, emergency responder, or legal advisor
- ARIA's knowledge has a training cutoff date and may not reflect current protocols
- Offline ARIA responses use a local RAG knowledge base which may be incomplete
- ARIA does not have real-time information, cannot assess your specific situation, and cannot see your environment
6.3 — Data Sent to Anthropic
When ARIA is used in online mode, your text queries are transmitted to Anthropic, PBC (San Francisco, USA) for processing. Anthropic processes this data under a Data Processing Agreement with CrisisMatrix. Anthropic does not use API queries for model training under the standard API tier. 7 Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use CrisisMatrix only for lawful purposes. You must NOT:
- Transmit false SOS alerts or fabricate emergency situations
- Attempt to manipulate, jailbreak, or prompt-inject ARIA to bypass safety guidelines or produce harmful content
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App or its AI components
- Use the App for commercial purposes without our prior written consent
- Attempt to access other users' data, accounts, or emergency profiles
- Add any individual to a Family Safety Network group without their explicit prior consent — this may violate UAE PDPL, GDPR, and applicable privacy laws
- Share family group join codes with individuals who have not consented to join
- Use the emergency call button to make false, unnecessary, or malicious calls to emergency services
- Use emergency number display features for any purpose other than personal emergency preparedness
- Provide false information when creating your Medical ID or emergency contacts
- Use the App to harass, stalk, or locate individuals without their consent
Violation of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in immediate termination of your access to the Services without notice.
8 Family Safety Network
The Family Safety Network is a voluntary opt-in feature. By using it, you agree to:
- Only add individuals who have explicitly consented to join your group
- Only share group join codes with consenting individuals
- Take responsibility for the accuracy of your own status updates
- Not use the feature to track or monitor individuals without their knowledge and consent
Group status information (name, relationship, safety status, location when shared) is visible to all members of your specific group. You acknowledge that once you share a status update with your group, it is immediately visible to all current group members.
9 Intellectual Property
9.1 — Our IP
CrisisMatrix, the CrisisMatrix name, logo, ARIA name, and all app design elements are our intellectual property. You may not use them without our prior written consent.
9.2 — Guide Content Attribution
First aid and emergency guide content is based on publicly available guidelines from WHO, Red Cross, Resuscitation Council UK, FEMA, IAEA, and equivalent international bodies. Content has been adapted and presented in original form by CrisisMatrix. We acknowledge these sources and encourage users to reference them directly.
9.3 — Your Content
Any content you enter into the App (Medical ID, notes, contacts) remains your property. You grant us a limited licence to process this content solely for the purpose of providing the Services to you.
10 Privacy
Our Privacy Policy, available at crisismatrix.com/privacy and within the App under Profile → Privacy Policy, is incorporated into these Terms by reference. It explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data, including location data, ARIA queries, Medical ID, emergency contacts, and Family group data. By using the App you confirm you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.
11 Subscriptions (Phase 2)
Free tier features are available without a subscription. Paid subscription tiers (Pro and Family) will be introduced in a future update. When subscriptions are launched:
- Subscription pricing will be displayed in AED (United Arab Emirates Dirhams) and local currency equivalents at the time of purchase
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date
- Cancellation must be made through the relevant app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) account settings
- Refunds are governed by Apple App Store and Google Play Store refund policies respectively — CrisisMatrix has no control over refund decisions
- Subscription terms, pricing, and included features will be clearly disclosed before purchase
12 Termination
12.1 — By You
You may terminate your use of the Services at any time by deleting the App. If you have a registered account, you may request account deletion via Profile → Account → Delete Account or by emailing support@crisismatrix.com.
12.2 — By Us
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
12.3 — Effect of Termination
Sections 4, 5, 6.2, 9, 13, and 14 of these Terms survive termination.
13 Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
13.1 — Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Arab Emirates, including UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 (UAE PDPL) and applicable federal UAE laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
13.2 — Dispute Resolution
Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration administered by the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) under the DIAC Arbitration Rules in force at the time of the dispute. The seat of arbitration shall be Abu Dhabi, UAE. The language of arbitration shall be English. The arbitral award shall be final and binding.
13.3 — Class Action Waiver
You agree that any dispute will be conducted on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.
13.4 — EU Consumers
Nothing in this section limits the statutory rights of consumers in the European Union. EU consumers may also access the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
14 General Provisions
- Entire agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and CrisisMatrix regarding the Services.
- Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
- Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment: You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms. We may assign our rights and obligations in connection with a business transfer.
- Notices: We will provide notices to you via in-app notification or to the email address associated with your account. Notices to us should be sent to support@crisismatrix.com.
